“No proposal for amnesty scheme implemented” “Governments hand-in-glove with the mall lobby” NEW DELHI: Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party president Harsh Vardhan has urged Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy and Chief Minster Sheila Dikshit to take the necessary legal measures to save citizens from the sealing drive. In a statement on Sunday, Dr. Vardhan also demanded the resignation of Mr. Reddy and Mr. Dikshit from their posts if they failed to bring in the necessary recommendations by Monday. “Even after two years, the Central Government has not implemented the proposal for an amnesty scheme. Both Governments are misleading the people of Delhi. The only way to save people from sealing and demolition is to implement the amnesty scheme. By failing to do this, the Governments are just increasing the level of unemployment among the public,” he said. Dr. Vardhan also accused the two Governments of being “hand-in-glove” with the mall lobby. “Traders harassed”“That small traders are not being given relief is direct fallout of the double standard of the Government. Even in the issue of rise in prices, only the small traders are being harassed,” he added. The senior BJP leader further said that the Union Urban Development Ministry should amend the Master Plan for Delhi-2021 and file an affidavit in court to provide relief to thousands of people who would be affected by the sealing drive.
