NEW DELHI: The Pandav Nagar police in East Delhi has informed the Delhi High Court that it did not have the power to lodge a case on an allegation of pocketing of Central funds meant for development of tribes by public servants. The police provided this information in an affidavit to the Court this past week in response to a PIL by Sanjay Tiwari Ujala seeking a direction to the investigating agency to register a case against certain Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly and officials for allegedly indulging in the criminal act. The petitioner approached the Court following refusal by the local police to register a case on his complaint against the persons mentioned in it. The local police had asked him to approach the Parliament Street police station in New Delhi saying that his complaint was related to the area coming under their jurisdiction. Hence, he filed the PIL for the direction. Taking the affidavit on record, Justice S. L. Bhayana of the Court posted it on August 26 for consideration.
