Barh project progress to be reviewed
Special Correspondent
PATNA: Union Minister of State for Power Jairam Ramesh on Sunday said he would review the progress of the super power project in Barh.
The thermal power project had been delayed due to serious differences between NTPC and the Russian consortium, Technopromexports, that bagged the contract for installing three units of 660 MW each. After it was found that the consortium had not declared the existence of an Indian agent when it made the bid for the contract, the CBI began an investigation.
Mr. Ramesh said the CBI found that the Indian agent was involved in hawala transactions. It suspected that the consortium could not have bagged the contract without the connivance of NTPC officials.
