Beagles girls impress

BANGALORE: Beagles girls scored two fine victories in the semifinal league of the State Junior basketball championship. At the Sree Kanteerava stadium courts here on Sunday, Beagles won 38-35 in a thriller of a contest against Mounts Club, which had surprised Sports Hostel (Mysore) last evening.

And in the afternoon session, the Beagles girls, powered by Sandhya, proved far too good for IBBC winning 43-27.

Beagles boys too won handsomely over IBBC in the morning session 39-22.

Mounts girls came back strongly in the afternoon to put it across Jayanagar SC 50-22 and kept itself in contention for the title race.

The results: Semifinal league: Boys: Jayanagar SC 54 (Minal 23, Abhijit 11) bt Kanaka (Kolar) 30 (Vishwanath 22); Beagles 39 (Irfan 13, Girish 10) bt IBBC 22.

Girls: Beagles 38 (Sanjana 11) bt Mounts 35 (Sandhya 11); JSC 51 (Vijayalakshmi 17, ANusha 16) bt IBBC 36 (Swathi 17); Mounts 50 (Sagarika 15, Roshini 16) bt JSC 22; Beagles 43 (Sandhya 20) bt IBBC 27 (Alokha 14).
