BERHAMPUR: Cashew traders of Ganjam district have demanded personal gun licence following the murder of cashew trader K. Srinivas Rao. Led by former MP of Berhampur and NCP leader, Anadi Sahu, cashew traders reached the office of the Ganjam SP on Sunday. They alleged police inaction in relation to the case of the murder of Rao who was shot dead on Saturday by two assailants. He was politically active and recently joined the NCP leaving the BJP. Mr. Sahu, who resigned from the post of Inspector General of Police to enter politics, pointed out the slow progress of investigation. He alleged that police had not yet investigated on the small arm by which Rao was killed. He alleged that the two assailants were hiding under the protection of some BJP leaders of Ganjam town. According to him, the prime accused in the case had used a mobile phone from the premises of the Berhampur jail to plan the murder. The cashew traders demanded personal gun licence as they were not feeling secure.
