CUTTACK: The toll in the April 20 cracker blast at Asureswar mounted to six with one more injured person succumbing to burns on Sunday. Bapi Mallick, 15, of Kasati village of Duhuria, who was battling with hundred per cent burn injuries, died, said the SCB Medical College and Hospital surgery department head, P.K. Mallick. At least 16 persons were admitted to the Cuttack hospital after the mishap at a religious gathering, of which about ten persons received more than 80 per cent burns. Although, a team of doctors is monitoring the health of the patients, the doctors apprehend that it would be difficult to save the lives of the patients who sustained more than 50 per cent burns. The government is bearing the entire cost of the treatment, while Rs. 20,000 each for the injured was sanctioned from the CM’s relief fund.
