SBT triumphs

KOCHI: State Bank of Travancore (Thiruvananthapuram) defeated BPCL-KRL by seven wickets to win the title in the 27th Coromandel Cements all-Kerala cricket tournament at the KRL Oval here on Sunday.

Raiphy Vincent Gomez flayed the KRL attack to score a quick-fire 66 as SBT cruised to victory in the 26th over. Earlier, batting first, KRL could score only 156 in its allotted 30 overs.

In the second semifinals, SBT defeated Globestar Telecom by 28 overs.

The scores: Final: BPCL-KRL 156 in 30 overs (K.J. Rakesh 46, Anil Kumar four for 20) lost to SBT (Thiruvananthapuram) 157 for three in 25.2 overs (Raiphy Vincent Gomez 66, V. Suresh 49).

Semifinal: SBT 117 in 19.2 overs bt Globestar Telecom 89 for nine in 20 overs.

Special awards: Best batsmen: K.R. Rakesh (BPCL-KRL); Best bowler: T.R. Sudeesh (SBT); Best all-rounder: V.S. Shiju (Globestar Telecom); Promising youngster: Deepak Murali (LCA).
