MOHALI: Simon Katich signed off his two-match stint in the Indian Premier League on a happy note. After piloting Kings XI Punjab to a confidence-boosting four-wicket win on Sunday, Katich now leaves the stage for the younger players in the side to show their worth. The stylish left-hander, along with Brett Lee, leaves for Australia for a preparatory camp, ahead of the away series against West Indies. “I am among the contracted players with Cricket Australia for the season beginning July 1. Brett and me are required to report for the camp after which we are flying out to the West Indies. “So we won’t be available for the rest of the matches. But believe me, both of us will be keeping track of the team’s progress for the next four weeks," Katich told The Hindu. Yuvraj Singh, who jokingly said he would cancel the return tickets of Brett Lee and Katich, acknowledged the contributions of the duo. “It will be difficult for the team, no doubt. Brett bowled great and we all enjoyed the way Katich batted today. In all, we have nine foreign players and we can use only four in each game. So we have options." New Zealand’s Kyle Mills is the third foreign player from Kings XI Punjab scheduled to leave on National duty this week. Sehwag philosophicalVirender Sehwag sounded philosophical about the loss. The Delhi Daredevil captain said, "in a way, it was good to lose early in the competition than losing later in the competition. This is a wake-up call for the team. “We needed a good start that never came. But still, I feel by scoring nearly 160 runs, we did better than most of the team batting first in the competition."
