CHITTOOR: As many as 76 projects were being constructed at a time in the State under the Congress government which has not been done in any other State in the country, said Finance Minister K. Rosaiah.

Addressing a press conference at Kanipakam in Irala mandal near here on Sunday, he said that there was rapid development in the State on all fronts but opposition leader N. Chandrababu Naidu has failed to see this.

Tall promises

Mr. Rosaiah said that a frustrated Mr. Naidu was making tall promises to the people during his ‘Mee kosam yatra. ’

He had not implemented them during his nine years of his regime and as such, people are very sceptical, the Minister remarked.

The Finance Minister alleged that several welfare programmes such as Rs.2 a kg rice and prohibition implemented by former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao were diluted by Mr. Naidu and now he was doing a volte face.

In the present Congress government’s regime, as many as 83 per cent of the people were sanctioned white ration cards besides enhanced pensions (from Rs. 75 to Rs. 200) being paid to 60 lakh persons every month on a par with the Government employees, he said.

On pegging prices

The State and Central governments were taking several steps to contain the price rise of essential commodities Mr. Rosaiah expressed optimism that the prices will definitely come down.

The Arya Vysya Samajam felicitated K. Rosaiah, and Aruna Kumari, Minister for Medical Education & Health Insurance.
