K. Rajendran and K.P. Mary who have been elected general secretary and president of the Kerala NGO Union. THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac has asked State government employees to be ready for fundamental changes so as to facilitate long-term development in the State. Inaugurating the 45th State conference of the Kerala NGO Union here on Sunday, Dr. Isaac pointed out that the Left would be able to honour the faith bestowed on it by the people only if the State achieved fast-paced growth. The LDF government had initiated some changes with this objective. However, the State’s achievements in the area of land reforms, wage structure, social justice and welfare activities could all be sustained only if the productive sectors of the economy too grew, he said. The Finance Minister pointed out that the government employees had a major role to play in this process. Dr. Isaac also cautioned the employees against attempts by the anti-Communist forces to sabotage the Left governments in India and said the ‘Liberation Struggle’ forces were still active in the State. The NGO Union conference elected K.P. Mary president and K. Rajendran general secretary. The conference also elected a 21-member secretariat and 71-member State committee.
