KOCHI: ‘My Country, My Life,’ the autobiography of Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha L.K. Advani, was introduced in Kerala on Sunday. Mammootty, actor, received a copy of the book from Mr. Advani at a function here. Mr. Advani said his book was not about the past but present and future. “It is less about my life and more about the development of India,” he said. “The ideological family to which I belong has been instrumental in shaping India. India has come to be respected and recognised globally. The world will accept that the 21st century belongs to India. Through the book, I am just trying to convey this message,” he said. The book covers the life of Mr. Advani in five phases – in Sindh from 1927 to 1947; in Rajasthan from 1947 to 1957; the formation of the Jan Sangh and related events that unfolded from 1957 to 1977; the formation of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Emergency in the period from 1977 to 1997; and that between 1997 and 2007 during which the Suvarna Jayanthi Rath Yatra was taken out and his elevation as Deputy Prime Minister. P. Parameswaran, director of the Bharatiya Vichara Kendram, introduced the book to the audience.
