Dies at Tambaram

TAMBARAM: A 22-year-old youth died after he sustained serious injuries when he was trapped between a compartment and a platform at the Tambaram railway station on Saturday.

Railway police gave the name of the victim as K. Deepan. A postgraduate student at an engineering college in Karaikudi, he boarded the Guruvayur-Chennai Express at Tiruchi and was on his way to his house.

He got into an unreserved compartment and was sitting near the steps.

When the train reached the Tambaram railway station, he was trapped between the compartment and the concrete slabs of the platform.
