State to host land records on Net

Revenue Department has already completed scanning of the records

Survey in 500 villages in Nizamabad completed
Bhu Bharati to be extended to five more districts

HYDERABAD: The State Government has decided to host the information pertaining to land records on a website to provide anytime anywhere access to people.

The Revenue Department has already completed scanning of all the land records and they will be hosted on the Internet shortly, Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao said. The Government which launched ‘Bhu Bharati’, the cadastral survey and land titling on a pilot basis in Nizamabad district, has decided to extend the project to Kadapa, Karimnagar, Anantapur, Nellore and Srikakulam districts this year.

Addressing a press conference along with Survey Settlement and Land Records Commissioner V.K. Agarwal here on Sunday, the Minister said that survey in over 500 villages in Nizamabad district had been completed and the department had called for objections. Of the more than 4 lakh titles surveyed, the department received 5,000 objections amounting to less than two per cent of the total extent reflecting the accuracy of the method adopted.

Survey works in Nizamabad would be completed by September this year while tenders were being shortlisted for launching similar survey in five more districts. The project had attracted attention from different States , he said.

Symposium

The Minister said that an international symposium would be organised jointly by the State and Central Government to enable the department to get suggestions from experts in the field for chalking out further course of action. To be inaugurated by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Monday, the two-day symposium would feature participation of over 100 delegates dealing with land records related issues .

World Bank senior land administration specialist Edward Cook, US-based rural development foundation representative Tim Hanstad and Pairoj Phuekvilai, surveyor general of Thailand will take part.
