Shanghai: None of the Indians could manage to break par in the final round of the Asian Open golf with Digvijay Singh and Jeev Milkha Singh managing the best finish among them, a tied 23rd, in the $2.3 million event here on Sunday. While Jeev returned a five-over 77 comprising two birdies against an equal number of bogeys and double bogeys, Digvijay could only manage one birdie against six bogeys in his 77. The duo signed off with a total of two-over 290. Among the other Indians, Shiv Kapur turned in another two-over 74 to finish tied 46th with a total of six-over 294. Meanwhile, Indian Masters champion S.S.P. Chowrasia came up with the worst performance among the Indians as he carded a 79 to end up eight-over in the tournament. He was tied for 55th position. Clarke winsIrishman Darren Clarke won the tournament by a stroke despite playing his worst golf of the week to card a one-over 73. However, his total of eight-under 280 was enough to get him the title. The Netherlands’ Robert-jan Derksen also carded a 73 and finished runner-up (281). — PTI
