CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu State Chess Association celebrated its 61st birthday in style with contests in tactical chess, a lecture by Grandmaster R.B. Ramesh and four simultaneous displays by Super GM K. Sasikiran and three IMs, M.R. Venkatesh, B. Adhiban and P. Karthikeyan. Sasikiran, who was accompanied by his wife, played black in all the games and took three hours and thirty minutes for 30 games. M.V.M. Velmurugan, CEO, Velammal Educational Trust, extolled the heritage of the State Chess Association. The results of the simultaneous displays: Sasikiran: Played black in all 30 games to win 24, drawn four (M. Hariharasudan, Vasantha Ruba Varman, R.M. Ramanathan, G. Santhoshkumar) and lost to B. Kumaran and V.A.V. Rajesh. M.R. Venkatesh: Won 25, lost to P. Michelle Catherina. B. Adhiban: Won 14, lost to S. Raju and drew with Y. Kiran, S. Ragul, and S. Anand Raj. P. Karthikeyan: Won 11, lost to J. Bavan Kumar, J. Sharanya, and J.G. Nivedia. — Special Correspodent
