CHENNAI: State Bank of India beat Kalaivanar FC, Sivaganga, 6-2 to earn a pre-quarterfinal berth in the Champion club football tournament here on Sunday. In keeping with the wide standards that exist between city and district teams, SBI shot into lead in the 22nd minute through P.C. Riju. Thereafter Sabeeth (two goals) and Riju made it 4-0 by the half way stage. K.G. Joseph and Baikar completed the tally early in the second session. For the loser Abdul Riaz and Ramesh Babu scored in the second session.
