KOCHI: Dental students have demanded restoring the internship programme as part of the extension of the academic programmes that provides the students to mature as professionals. The issue was raised during the first All Kerala Dental Students Conference, Students Ulsav ’08, held in Nedumbassery on Sunday. Students from 23 dental colleges in the State participated in the events that included scientific presentations, quiz and cultural competitions. One-year internship programme was removed as part of the dental medical school programme by the Indian Dental Council in an order last year. Following this, there was an uproar in the medical academic circles to restore it.
