‘This is just the beginning of summer and we are already experiencing power-cuts for 6-8 hours’ ‘If the same situation prevails, what will happen in peak summer months of May and June?’ NEW DELHI: Even as the Capital reeled under extensive power-cuts, Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Jagdish Mukhi launched a scything assault on the Delhi Government criticising the frequent power outages. “This is just the beginning of summer and we are already experiencing power-cuts for 6-8 hours. The common man wants to know how he is supposed to spend May and June, the peak months of summer, if such a situation is allowed to prevail,” he added. Prof. Mukhi also said non-availability of power had also resulted in dysfunction of water-pumping stations that had led to a shortage of water as well. “The result was that several Delhiites had to leave for work even without taking a shower,” he added. The senior BJP leader said it was strange that Delhi was drawing less power from the Northern Grid than even its neighbouring States. “This is ample proof that the Chief Minister has lost control over the administration that the Delhi Government is drawing lesser power from neighbouring States. A few days back there was acute shortage of water, but Ms. Dikshit failed to resolve that issue as well,” he added. Prof. Mukhi called for intervention of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the matter to ensure that the Capital got its rightful share of electricity.
