Panchayat chiefs meet

TIRUCHI: A meeting of all the 408 village panchayat presidents in the district was convened here by Collector T.Soundiah on Saturday to discuss measures to streamline drinking water supply and expedite pending projects.

Mr. Soundiah asked the panchayat presidents to ensure that there were no unauthorised household water connections and deposits were collector for all individual connections. He instructed the presidents to extend their help in expediting all pending projects. Encroachments from lands that belong to the panchayats should be removed in coordination with the Rural Development, Revenue and Police departments.
