Jawad Hussain passes away
London: R. Jawad Hussain, who played cricket for Madras University (Govt. Arts College and Loyola) and a Ranji match for Madras against Kerala, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 26, according to his son Nasser Hussain, the former England captain. Jawad was 68.
Nasser Hussain said that his father was suffering from various problems for the last eight months and had developed pneumonia.
Jawad, popularly known as Joe in Essex, played regularly for the Essex local club. His two other sons, Mel, played for Worcestershire, and Abbas, played for Essex Second XI.
Jawad was a regular member of the Madras Cricket Club team in the first division league. — P. Subramanyam
