Staff Reporter

Against outsourcing transportation of DD and cheques

Coimbatore: Employees of Canara Bank staged a demonstration here on Monday demanding the bank not to outsource transportation of demand drafts and cheques to unauthorised persons.

Various risks

A press release from the Canara Bank Staff Union pointed out that the bank handled 7,000 to 9,000 cheques a day worth Rs. 30 crore to Rs. 50 crore.

The cheques are transported through autorickshaw driver. This posed various risks such as traffic congestions, delay in delivery and loss of the cheques.

Procedure

So employees demanded that the bank should not follow this procedure for transportation of the cheques and demand drafts.
