Indian boys begin well

NEW DELHI: Yuki Bhambri and Saurabh Singh proved too strong for Singapore as India got off to a flying start in the Asia-Oceania junior Davis Cup under-16 tennis tournament at the DLTA Complex here on Monday.

The results:

Group I: Australia bt Kazakhstan 3-0; Chinese Taipei bt Uzbekistan 3-0.

Group II: New Zealand bt Hong Kong 3-0; Philippines bt Malaysia 2-1.

Group III: India bt Singapore 3-0 (Saurabh Singh bt Han Felix Wee 6-0, 6-0; Yuki Bhambri bt Chenjie Dominic Boey 6-0, 6-0; Samip Mehta & Saurabh Singh bt Chenjie Dominic Boey & Ching Wei Justin Low 7-5, 7-6(6); Thailand bt Pakistan 3-0.

Group IV: Japan bt Korea 2-1; China bt Indonesia 3-0.
