‘Free gas supply is viable’

NARASARAOPET (GUNTUR Dt): Telugu Desam Party supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu reiterated that his promise of free gas connection to all poorer sections of the society is viable and pragmatic. The availability of abundant gas reserves in the K.G basin would make his dream of providing free gas connection a reality, he told mediapersons on Monday morning before kick-starting day two of the `Mee Kosam’ programme in the district.

Referring to the agreement inked between State Government and GAIL, he said the agreement has been signed when no one was sure about the quantum of gas available in the basin.

“It is up to the State Government to press for a share in the quantum of gas taped in the region. I had pursued the deal aggressively during my tenure as the Chief Minister and persuaded the Centre to include APIIC as one of the parties while signing the agreement,” he said.
