Order on charges in DDA case reserved

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A special CBI court on Tuesday reserved its order on framing of charges against former Delhi Development Authority Vice-Chairman Subhash Sharma, former Delhi High Court Judge Shameet Mukherjee and three other accused in a case of allowing one of the accused to illegally possess two DDA flats.

Special CBI Judge I. K. Kochhar reserved the order against Sharma, Mukherjee, litigant Ashok Kapoor, sacked Delhi Police constable Vinod Khatri and alleged middleman Dharamvir Khattar for May 13. During arguments over framing of charges, all the accused had claimed that they had been implicated in the case. They also sought discharge before commencement of trial.

Opposing their plea, the CBI counsel told the court that the agency had submitted 19 compact discs that contained alleged conversations between the accused pertaining to the land deal. The CBI had termed the CDs as “crucial evidence”.

According to the prosecution, Khatri, who allegedly had illegal possession of two DDA flats on Aruna Asaf Ali Marg in the Capital, wanted a favourable order from Mukherjee as the matter was pending in his court.
