Safety check on Metro section

NEW DELHI: A safety inspection of the soon-to-be-commissioned Shahdara-Dilshad Garden section of Delhi Metro railway was conducted on Tuesday. The first section of Phase II was inspected by Commissioner for Metro Railway Safety Bhupinder Singh.
According to a DMRC official, the Safety Commissioner was “satisfied” with the section, which has been considered fit for running of trains. The DMRC has, however, been asked to complete all pending activities before the section is thrown open to the public.
The inspection started from Dilshad Garden station at 11 a.m. and was carried out by a special motor trolley up to Shahdara including the intermediate stations at Jhilmil and Mansarovar Park.
“They conducted a general inspection of stations, telecom equipment room, ticket operating machine room, station control room and fire detection and suppression system. Measurement of crossover of tracks, platform gaps, curves and overhead equipment inspection was also carried out,” the official said.
