KASARAGOD: PDP chairman Abdul Nasir Maudany on Tuesday said he did not believe that political or religious organisations were behind the recent clashes in Kasaragod which left four persons dead and several injured. Speaking to reporters here before a communal amity meet organised by the PDP in the evening, Mr. Maudani said such allegations should be backed by solid evidence. It did not seem that the violence was pre-planned, he said. The violence assumed a communal character in the later stages. The police should arrest those behind the violence and should give them exemplary punishment, he said. He requested all sections of society to cooperate to maintain peace. The PDP leader said his party would continue to extend issue-based support to the LDF government. He said the PDP had drafted several programmes to widen its mass base. Though the PDP leader planned to visit the homes of those killed in the violence, he called it off on suggestions of the police.
