Sabharwal case hearing adjourned
NAGPUR: The trial in the Prof. H. S. Sabharwal murder case was on Tuesday adjourned to May 3 as Public Prosecutor Majid Memon, whom the court appointed last week, was yet to receive the orders in Mumbai.
The hearing in the 2006 murder of Prof. Sabharwal, who was on the faculty of Ujjain’s Madhav College, was shifted here from Madhya Pradesh by the Supreme Court on a plea by his son Hemant.
Additional District and Session Judge B. A. Sheikh, who is hearing the case here, was told that the court would be informed by Saturday on confirmation from Mr. Memon on his appointment as Public Prosecutor. Mr. Memon is a leading criminal lawyer based in Mumbai.
Prof. Sabharwal was fatally assaulted allegedly by a group of student-activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarathi Parishad, a wing of the BJP in August 2006 over postponement of union polls.
Six accused were present in the court. - PTI
