Punjab government withdraws quota order

Chandigarh: Hours after announcing quota for admission in medical courses for tsunami, cancer and AIDS victims, the Punjab government on Tuesday withdrew its order.

It did not give any reason for rescinding its decision. In a release, an official spokesman said “the press note No. 197 regarding reservation in admission to medical colleges for tsunami, cancer and AIDS victims stands cancelled. Please ignore the press note.” — PTI
