Head to Wonderla for some spooky, thrilling rides this vacation

Exciting: Child actor Darsheel Safary inaugurated the ‘Dungeons of Horror’ at Wonderla in Bangalore on Tuesday.

Bangalore: Amusement park “Wonderla” has given its visitors four new reasons to scream louder this summer.

Dungeons of Horror, Crazy Wagon, Boomerang and Hang Glider are the new thrillers to watch out for.

These rides were inaugurated on Tuesday by young actor Darsheel Safary along with I.M. Vittala Murthy, Tourism Secretary; C. Somasekhara, Director Department of Tourism; and V.H. Ramesh, president, Banikuppa Gram Panchayat.

Darsheel Safary, the child actor who touched the hearts of millions with his performance in Aamir Khan’s “Taare Zameen Par,” inaugurated the spooky Dungeons of Horror.

Asked about his experience, the visibly thrilled 11-year-old said: “When the ride began I was scared, but later I realised that they were just dummies. It was a lot of fun indeed.”

Darsheel Safary now fairly used to all the cameras, said that he hoped to come back to the amusement park with his friends.

Mr. Vittala Murthy, Mr. Somasekhara and Mr. Ramesh inaugurated the Crazy Wagon, the exhilarating Hang Glider and Boomerang, a water ride.

Design

All the four rides have been designed and developed at the Wonderla R&D facility in Bangalore, using imported components.

Speaking about the new attractions, Arun K. Chittilappilly, MD, Wonderla, said: “It is a great day for us at Wonderla.”

Entertainment

“We believe in bringing the best in entertainment as many of our rides are state-of-the-art and cannot be found anywhere in India,” Mr. Chittilappilly added.

Wonderla, one of the largest amusement parks in India, is spread over 82 acres.

It is a part of the V-Guard Group.

Wonderla is the second theme park project from the group.

It has been operational since October 2005.

Total investment

The amusement park was set up with a total investment of Rs. 105 crore, and the newly inaugurated rides cost them a total of Rs. 7 crore.

The Wonderla amusement park now has 57 rides in total for a single entry fee, the largest for any park of its kind in India.
