Constable held on molestation charge
NEW DELHI: In yet another case involving a policeman, a Delhi Police constable has been arrested on charges of molesting a minor girl at Tughlak Road here over the weekend. The constable has been suspended.
The incident took place on Saturday night when Constable Satyavan Singh, posted as a driver with an officer of the Security Wing of the Delhi Police, allegedly took the victim to an isolated place in the Security Lines on some pretext and allegedly molested her.
The girl, who is the daughter of a labourer working at a construction site in the area, narrated the whole incident to her father, who then lodged a complaint with the local police. Subsequently the constable was arrested on charges of abducting and molesting the girl.
Although the constable was later released on bail, he has been suspended pending enquiry. Senior police officers are contemplating harsher punishment against him.
