Collector lays stress on girl-child education

Bhubaneswar region has the largest number of Central schools in the country

Cuttack to have second Central school soon


CUTTACK: Cuttack Collector Sujata Karthikeyan has stressed the need for girl child education and hoped that all educational organizations in the country would follow the steps taken by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) in this regard.

Joining as the chief guest in the annual day celebrations of the Central School here, the first lady Collector of the district who is also the chairperson of the Vidyalaya Management Committee commended the steps taken by the school to promote girls’ education.

KVS assistant commissioner DPS Rao addressing the function as guest of honour said the Bhubaneswar region of the KVS comprising states of Orissa and Jharkhand had now emerged largest region among all the 14 regions of the country having 69 central schools. The country now has over 900 central schools and very soon the number would touch 1000, Rao hoped.

Rao further informed that Cuttack city would soon have a second central school as a proposal from the district administration to have the school in the eastern limits of the city is now under active consideration of the KVS.

The principal of the school A K Mishra in his report indicated that the school has last year achieved hundred percent result in Class X examination conducted by the CBSE. He said three students of the school have received merit certificate from CBSE for outstanding performances in Social studies and Mathematics.
