Malappuram school to publish exam results on the Net

Going hi-tech: M. Ummer, MLA, inaugurating the website of AKM High School, Kottur, near Kottakkal in Malappuram district.

MALAPPURAM: A school in Malappuram district will make a record of sorts when it publishes examination results on the Internet on May 2.

AKM High School, Kottur, near Kottakkal, will publish the results of examinations in standards V to IX on its website, www.akmhskottur.web4all.in.

M. Ummer, MLA, inaugurated the school website the other day. A group of teachers led by the school’s IT coordinator gave shape to the website.

Basheer Kuruniyan, Headmaster, claimed that it would be the first aided or government school in the State to publish the results on the Net. “Our students and parents can now get to know their results from anywhere in the world,” he said.

Apart from the annual results, the website will carry information about the government plans on education. Mr. Kuruniyan said the website will have links to the sites of the State government and the Education Department.

School’s IT coordinator Abdul Gafoor Irumban said the website was designed in such a way as to help SSLC students download their model question papers.

Though functioning in a remote village, AKM School has already carved a niche for itself by attaining academic and non-academic excellence. This aided school had marked 95 per cent pass in the last year’s SSLC examinations.

The students of this Malayalam-medium school had made local history by publishing a newspaper in English. The paper, brought out in broadsheet format, had won them lots of appreciation.
