Salary issue: direction to Labour Department

PUDUCHERRY: Speaker R.Radhakrishnan on Wednesday directed the Labour Department to enquire into the issue relating to non-payment of salary to members of women self-help groups involved in garbage clearing in the town.

Raising the issue during zero hour, R. Siva (DMK) said cases had been registered against 20 activists of his party for pleading with the municipal authorities on April 21 to disburse salary to these workers.

Chief Minister N.Rangasamy said the government had already allocated funds for the municipality towards the garbage clearing work.

The Speaker said the enforcement wing should enquire into the issue and submit a report to him.
