ALL ARE EQUAL BEFORE THE LAW: Employees of the Krishnagiri Sub-court attaching movable properties of the Krishnagiri Collectorate on Wednesday.

Krishnagiri: Officials of the Krishnagiri Sub-court on Wednesday attached movable items including wooden furniture and steel chairs in the Krishnagiri Collectorate complex for failing to settle the compensation amount due to an individual in a land acquisition case.

The court had ordered the attachment of movable properties in the Collectorate on a compensation complaint filed by Radhakrishnan Chetty at Uthangarai here in respect of 7.5 acres of land acquired by the State Government for distribution to Adi-dravidars in 1997.

Mr. Radhakrishnan moved the court on the ground that the compensation paid to him was very low. The court awarded a compensation of Rs.1.49 crore to the complainant. The court staff and bailiff arrived at the Collectorate at around 2 p.m. and ordered the attachment of the movable properties there.

Earlier Revenue officials locked the rooms in the Collectorate to avoid the attachment.

A team of officials from the Sub-court pasted a warrant notice on the doors of the complex and attached movable properties in the verandah. The court staff were at the Collectorate till evening assessing and listing the attached properties.
