Chitradurga: As many as 22 nomination papers were rejected after scrutiny in the district on Wednesday. The number of nominations filed in the district on Tuesday was 170. Two nominations from Molakalmur taluk were rejected. Three nominations were rejected in Challakere taluk as the contestant, Jagaluraiah, who filed his papers on a Congress candidate, failed to produce the “B” form. Two nominations of Balakrishnaiah, who filed his papers as a Bahujan Samaj Party candidate in Chitradurga, were also rejected on similar grounds. One nomination in Hosadurga was rejected. Bellary Staff Correspondent reports: As many as 36 nomination papers were rejected after scrutiny here on Wednesday while 129 were found to be in order. Nine papers were rejected in Bellary (city), the highest, followed by Sandur (7), Kudligi and Kampli (six each), Hadagali (3) and Hagari Bommanahalli and Vijayanagar (two each). No papers were rejected in Sirguppa. The nominations filed by candidates of all three major political parties were found to be in order. After scrutiny, 36 candidates remained in the fray in Bellary (city). Friday is the last day for withdrawal of papers.
