THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BSNL is introducing annual/biennial fixed charge Plans for its Landline/WLL services from May 1. In rural areas there are two annual plans – one with One India Plan plus rate and another with General Plan plus rate. By paying an annual charge of Rs.600, the subscriber is entitled for 30 free calls per month for 12 months, charging extra calls @ 80 ps per plus with General plan pulse rate. Thus the effective monthly fixed charge is only Rs.26 after taking the free calls into account. In the One India plus rate Annual Plan, a rural subscriber has to pay Rs.1,000 for the same number of free calls, but with a one minute pulse for the STD. In urban areas, for the annual plan with General Plan pulse rate, a subscriber paying a lump sum of Rs.1,200 is entitled for 50 free calls a month for 12 months, charging extra calls @ Re.1 per pulse. Thus the effective monthly fixed charges by this plan work out to be Rs.50 only after taking the free calls into account. In the One India pulse rate Annual Plan, urban subscriber has to pay Rs.1,800 for the same number of free calls, but with a one-minute pulse for the STD. In the urban biennial plan, a subscriber who pays a lump sum of Rs.2,160 is entitled to 50 free calls per month for 24 months; charging extra calls @ Re.1 per pulse in the General Plan Pulse rate. Thus the effective monthly fixed charge is only Rs.40, after taking the free calls into account.
