Nominations rejected
BANGALORE: Nomination papers of about 100 candidates, including two Congress candidates S. S. Mallikarjun and Syed Saifulla in Davangere North constituency, have been rejected on various grounds in the 10 districts going to the polls in the second phase on May 16. As many as 66 Assembly constituencies will go to polls in the second phase. The date for withdrawal of nomination is May 2.
As many as 121 candidates have filed their nomination papers on Wednesday for the third phase of elections on May 22. The number of papers filed district-wise is: Belgaum (24), Bagalkot (8), Bijapur (11), Gulbarga (22), Bidar (16), Dharwad (19), Haveri (10) and Gadag (11). — Special Correspondent.
