Night school staff on relay fast

PUDUCHERRY: Employees of night schools are on a relay fast from Monday to urge the government to provide alternative jobs.

The Perunthalaivar Kamaraj Night School Teachers’ Welfare Association in a release said that the Chief Minister had promised alternative jobs for the night school teachers in the Local Administration Department during a meeting with the representatives of the Confederation of Government Employees on April 2. The association said that the government should come up with an announcement for granting alternative employment for the teachers during the debate on grants for Local Administration Department.
