Corrections and clarifications

* * The second paragraph in a report “Bees attack students, teachers” (Tamil Nadu, April 30, 2008, page 11) was “As hundreds of honey bees descended on them, teachers were forced to leave their classrooms running for cover. The avian attack lasted for 20 minutes, leaving two children in hospital and 20 others needing medical attention from the nearby Primary Health Centre.” It should have been “apian attack”. Avian relates to birds.

* * Yesterday, we had said that “A sentence in the eighth paragraph of an article ‘Wise leadership in times of inflation’ (Editorial page, April 23, 2008) was ‘… From a moderate four per cent rate in January, inflation jumped to a troublesome 7.41 per cent by the end of January’, and that it should have been ‘… a troublesome 7.41 per cent by the end of April’.”

It should have been ‘… a troublesome 7.41 per cent by the end of March! (The data released by the Government is: week ending March 15 – 6.68%, March 22 – 7%, March 29 – 7.41%, April 5 – 7.14%, April 12 – 7.33%.)
