Jain bowls Air India to victory

NEW DELHI: A five-wicket haul by Vinit Jain took Air India, North, to an eight-wicket win over Sonnet Club in the quarterfinals of the 18th all-India Om Nath Sood memorial cricket tournament at the Roshanara Club ground on Wednesday.

Chasing a target of 176, Air India was well served by unbeaten knocks from Shafiq Khan and Deepak Joon after opener Manvinder Bisla set the tempo with a blistering 49 off 28 balls with 10 fours and a six.

In the semifinals, ONGC will take on FCI while Air India will face Haryana Colts.

The scores: Sonnet Club 175 for nine in 40 overs (Gaurav Kocchar 61, Vinit Jain five for 25) lost to Air India, North, 176 for two in 20.2 overs (Shafiq Khan 66 n.o., Manvinder Bisla 49, Deepak Joon 49 n.o.). — Special Correspondent
