Police shift Mala Mahanadu chief
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: Police shifted fasting Mala Mahanadu leader Jupudi Prabhakara Rao to hospital from his hunger strike camp camp at Errum Manzil on Wednesday night.
They had to earlier abandon a similar attempt when Mala Mahanadu supporters resisted their attempt. They threatened to commit self-immolation when police tried to lift Mr. Rao into a waiting ambulance. However, they relented when Mr. Rao’s condition worsened.
On the other hand, the condition of Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) leader Manda Krishna also worsened with his sugar and blood pressure levels dropping. A team of doctors who examined him at his camp behind Jubilee Bus Station in the afternoon recommended his shifting to hospital but Mr. Krishna was adamant. Three followers of Mr. Krishna who were also on fast were, however, moved to hospital.
Meanwhile, Municipal Administration Minister Koneru Ranga Rao who negotiated with Mr. Krishna on Tuesday again called up the fasting leader on Wednesday to appeal to him to withdraw the agitation. Mr. Krishna told the Minister that he would carry on the fast until the step was taken.
