NEW DELHI: The Principal of Delhi Public School Indirapuram, in neighbouring Ghaziabad district, has alleged that she was assaulted by a teacher of the school after the latter’s husband, accused of molesting a student, had to resign from the institution. Following a recent written complaint of molestation of a Class III girl student, Principal Meeta Rai had asked yoga teacher Rakesh Tripathi to resign or face suspension and enquiry. He resigned. School’s version“This past Monday Ritu Tripathi, wife of Rakesh, came to see the Principal and argued in favour of her husband. When she did not get a favourable response from Ms. Rai who tried to explain to her that the matter was closed, she resorted to verbal abuse and started physically assaulting her. She was accompanied by another lady who joined her,” said a statement issued by the school on Thursday. “Since the school had closed, very few people were around. On hearing the frantic screams of the Principal, a few teachers and administrative staff came to the rescue of Ms. Rai. Later the police were called in to control the situation,” it added.
