BJP councillors take out protest march to Nirman Bhawan

NEW DELHI: Continuing with the sealing drive in the Capital for the third day, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi sealed 254 properties on Wednesday.

These included three properties in Darya Ganj; 23 in Trilokpuri and Kishanganj; 25 in Lajpat Nagar, Jangpura, Vikram Vihar and Hemkund; 27 in Rajouri Garden, Kirti Nagar, Vishnu Garden, Shanker Garden and Tilak Nagar; 21 in Sagarpur and adjoining areas; and 21 in Safdarjung Enclave, Malviya Nagar and Dakshinpuri.

Other properties sealed included 33 in Jhilmil and Seemapuri; 19 in Narela; and 82 in Prashant Vihar, Rohini and Keshavpuram.

864 properties sealed

With this the total number of properties sealed in the Capital in the past three days has gone up to 864.

Meanwhile, led by Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party president Harsh Vardhan, several Municipal Councillors along with Leader of MCD House Subhash Arya marched from Palika Bazar to Nirman Bhawan here protesting against the sealing operations.

“The Congress is giving relief in ‘instalments’ to citizens of Delhi to gain political mileage,” said Mr. Arya, adding, “We demand a general amnesty scheme to bring about comprehensive relief for Delhiites. This is an issue that touches lakhs of people and is, hence, above politics.”

He also sought permission for people to carry on office activities on the upper floors of shops situated on mixed-land use roads as this would neutralise the shortage of office space.
