New website aims at creating more awareness about the earth Bangalore: At a time when global warming and environmental changes are finally acknowledged as a reality, there has never been a greater effort to understand the dynamics that are affecting our planet. To help shed light on the processes at work on Planet Earth and its changing environment, here is a website dedicated exclusively to the study of earth science. Common platformThe website www.planetearth-india.com, recently launched by Gateway Media and the Ministry of Earth Science, aims at providing an opportunity to experts, administrators as well as the general public to come together on a common platform. It was launched appropriately on the occasion of the United Nations Earth Week. It was inaugurated by P.S. Goel, Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences and Chairman of Earth Commission, Government of India. InformationRavi Ramprasad, Publications Director of Gateway Media, a Hyderabad-based publishing house, said that the initiative was aimed at creating awareness about the earth “by making information relating to a broad spectrum of earth science issues more available and understandable to researchers, educators, policy makers and the general public.” Gateway Media also announced the forthcoming launch of “Planet Earth” magazine. This monthly magazine will focus on policy issues related to earth sciences.
