DU Dean’s office vandalised
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: A group of students led by two office-bearers of the Delhi University Students’ Union allegedly vandalised the office of the Dean of Faculty of Law on the North Campus on Monday over the issue of short attendance of some law students.
About 250 students, including girls, from different batches of LL.B. at three law centres of the University have not been allowed to appear in the final examination as their attendance fell short of the mandatory 66 per cent.
According to Dean S.N. Singh, nearly 30 students led by DUSU vice-president Devraj Tehlan and joint secretary Khushboo Sharma came to his office on Monday afternoon and asked him to allow the students who have been restrained from taking the final papers to appear in the examination.
“I told them that I had acted by the University rules and that I was not accountable to them. They then asked me to resign. They began throwing the printer, telephone and other papers on my table and vandalised my room. They also threatened me. By that time the police had arrived at the spot,” said Prof. Singh.
