dated May 2, 1958: Khrushchev on U.K. tests

Mr. Nikita Khrushchev said on April 29 that Britain has “exploded the thrust and hopes of millions of people” by letting off a nuclear bomb this week, but he added “the Soviet Union is not to be intimidated by such explosions.” Mr. Khrushchev, quoted by Tass, was speaking at a luncheon in honour of Egyptian President Nasser now visiting Moscow.
