PIDUGURALLA (Guntur Dt.): Telugu Desam Party Polit Bureau meeting here in Guntur on Thursday cleared the names of its candidates for byelections to four Lok Sabha and 14 Assembly constituencies in Telangana and Therlam in Vizianagaram district. It has decided to leave Cheriyal and Musheerabad constituencies as part of its poll alliance with the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and not to put up a candidate from Khairatabad as a mutual understanding with the Congress. The Congress had left Therlam for the TDP. ‘Candidates are gems’At a press conference here, Mr. Naidu said all the candidates were “gems” and they would win hands down in the coming byelections. He along with other party senior leaders would campaign for the candidates and the focus would be on how the TRS and Congress had “cheated” the people of Telangana. The Polit Bureau decided to put off the Mahanadu scheduled for May 27, 28 and 29 to a later date as it clashed with the byelections. But party founder N.T. Rama Rao’s birthday would be celebrated in whichever village or city Mr. Naidu and other key leaders of the party were on that day (May 28) as part of the “Mee Kosam yatra.” Mr. Naidu criticised Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for “ignoring development in Telangana region and spending Rs.8,000 crore in his native district, especially his Idupulapaya estate.”
