It’s anybody’s game: Ganguly

Special Correspondent

Jaipur: Sourav Ganguly has said that Twenty20 is new to him in spite of playing 400 odd games for India.

The Kolkata Knight Riders’ captain said that Twenty20 was anybody’s game but stressed that shorter the game less was the difference between the players and the teams.

The IPL has thrown up different results and Ganguly said one had to wait for another half a dozen matches for each team before trying to figure out the likely qualifiers for the semifinals.

“Chennai Super Kings is the only team that has won four matches in a row, but the others have lost at least a match. They will miss Matthew Hayden and Michael Hussey. One cannot pass judgment on the teams in this format. Rajasthan Royals began as the underdog, played a poor match against Delhi and then won three in a row. The competition is in a balanced state now.”

Touching upon the departure of some of the foreign players, the former India captain said, “We knew the Australians would go, but we have replacements and looking at the way people have turned up at every venue, it’s going to be entertaining.

“From now on the teams will have the same set of players till the end.

“As the competition progresses, the departure of some players will become insignificant.”
