Staff Reporter

JAGGAIAHPETA: Speaker K. Suresh Reddy inaugurated a four-day ‘Jaggaiahpeta Mahotsavams’ amidst pomp and gaiety here on Thursday.

Felicitations to 10 local prominent people and artists gladdened the people, while ghazals, dances, ‘Mohini- Bhasmasura’ and others cultural events invited big round of applauses and cheers.

Mr. Suresh Reddy stated that Krsishna district always stood as frontrunner in the State by its innovative programmes. Mr. Reddy said that the celebrations like this would help people understand their rich culture and heritage. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the meeting, Mr. Reddy expressed the view that Andhra Pradesh had a special recognition as far as conducting the proceedings of State Assembly. The members should not make the Assembly as a forum to make personal accusations and allegations.

Instead, it should be a place to discuss the people’s problems. Government Whip Samineni Udayabhanu, Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, cine actor Kanta Rao and others spoke.
