Magic wand: Pouroosh Chandra Sorcar alias P.C. Sorcar (Master) began performing solo in 2001.

Bangalore: It might take a bit of magic to figure out the relationships, but the latest of the Sorcars, magician P.C. Sorcar (Master), has appeared on the Bangalore scene following in the illustrious footsteps of his father, P.C. Sorcar (Young), and grandfather, the late ‘Jadusamrat’ P.C. Sorcar (Senior).

Pouroosh Chandra Sorcar, alias P.C. Sorcar (Master), is performing at the Town Hall for a month with his troupe of 35 aides. Bringing back the popular acts of his grandfather, P.C. Sorcar (Master) will be performing illusions such as “Water of India” and “Sawing a Lady in Half”. “People of the younger generation have not seen those comparatively simple but seminal acts of magic that were performed by my grandfather. Now they will get an opportunity to do so,” he says.

Besides such classical acts, his show includes newer and personally developed tricks such as “Soul Through Soul” and the somewhat macabre “Passing Through the Deadly Blades of a Rotating Industrial Fan”. His father, P.C. Sorcar (Young), will also be accompanying him on his tour, and briefly on stage. Pouroosh, who used to perform in the company of his father, began performing solo in 2001. “In the beginning I would simply watch my father’s acts and try to imitate them. After some time he began teaching them to me. Later, I began experimenting on my own and came up with new illusions,” he says.

Tickets for the shows can be bought at the venue or online at www.ticketnew.com. P.C. Sorcar (Master) will perform in the city till May 31.
